Denham and leather

I'm not sure if it's good or bad if you get the song reference in the Title of this entry...

But here are two finished pages for ANGEL #28, the first issue of the Bill Willingham/Brian Denham run:

Excellent art! Glad to see the gang are back together. Am interested to see how James and Dez will play a part in all this and how much of the "PTB gone bad" aspect of Aftermath will be expanded upon in future.

I wonder if the second page is sort of a re-cap sort of thing of the events of ATF and Aftermath?

I dont think so - remember Spike,Illyria, Gunn and Betta George werent in Aftermath so I think this is new.

And soooooo glad to see they are back at the Hyperion!

Well,I would actually love to have the hotel be Angel's base again actually. So I hope that isn't just a re-cap or at least not that panel.

That's a really great likeness of Kate.

Not that I'm a big Kate fan, but she's got kind of a generic look, and yet this artist really captures the particular shape of her face and makes sure the reader knows who she is. That's not easy for a lot of comics artists, so I'm impressed.

Ya me too - the idea of Angel in a church was interesting. But I would be much happier having him back in the Hyperion. It was so poignant in AtF when Angel went back there as the last place Fred went safe. The Hyperion was always a metaphor for Angel's redemption going right back to Are You Now Or have You Ever Been when he walked out on those people.

Angeliclestat, James and Dez aren't in the same panel as Gunn and George. It seems like it's a quick look back on what happened before. Gunn and George are paired up (as they were in ANGEL: AtF), Spike and Illyria are paired up (as they were in SPIKE: AtF), and Kate is with James and Dez (as she was in AFTERMATH). Even the look of the characters, how they're just standing there, looks super recappy.

The art is amazing. I couldn't be happier with the new team on the ANGEL book!

Pat- Maybe you are right. I got so excited at seeing everyone together again (yes even James and Dez:)) that I hoped it was a groups scene. Since we havnt had the gang together since #17 really...well the standalones have been great, but I am dying to get back to the group dynamic.

It IS a group scene set in the present day...

Wow, good on you angeliclestat!

I don't know what it is, maybe just the "iconic pose"ness of the panels, especially the last one with James, Dez, and Kate that screams recap. Heh, interesting to see all these folks in one place, though. Glad George is in the mix!
