Juliet Geeks out

Juliet Landau, who's co-writing the return of her character, Drusilla, to the world of ANGEL (in issues 24 and 25), recently did a piece with GEEK magazine where she discussed what it was like writing Dru and writing comics. GEEK was nice enough to allow me to run the entire piece here.

JL is just so beautiful and Dru returning is just beyond great. I love the shout out to Spike/Dru and their 150 year relationship. I can't wait to get my hands on these two comics.

This sounds great, and Juliet's attention to detail is a joy to read about. Can't wait to read the book.

Have to say, though, with all due respect to Juliet, Spike and Dru's 150 year romance just doesn't feel very real to me, since all we saw on screen was how it ended. Spike and Buffy we got to see play out over three seasons. Now, that's real. The same is true of Angel and Darla. We saw a lot more of it, and to me it seems far more real and immediate than Spike and Dru.

Having the comic is great, but it can never have the immediacy that seeing two people interacting with each other on film does.
