Wolves at the door

Variety announced last night that Ben Templesmith's WELCOME TO HOXFORD has been optioned:

Chris Columbus' 1492 Entertainment has picked up the film rights to IDW Publishing's horror graphic novel "Welcome to Hoxford."

Ben Templesmith, who co-penned the vampire comic series "30 Days of Night," which Sony made into a film in 2007, created "Hoxford," about a psychiatrist who must team with a deeply disturbed patient in order to escape werewolves who run an institution for the criminally insane. Plans are for Columbus to produce the adaptation along with 1492 partners Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.

Templesmith is also behind the graphic novels "Wormwood Gentleman Corpse" and "Singularity 7."

Columbus, who most recently wrapped Fox Atomic's "I Love You, Beth Cooper," is next expected to direct Fox 2000's "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief," based on the Rick Riordan book. He's also circling "Ripley's Believe It or Not" for Paramount.

Arch's look (and his name) are indeed based on Bob's descriptions, good call. There's even a love interest in the book named "Roberta Lazar."

So, will all the characters in the film version still have Doctor Who inspired names?
