IDW's new releases... postponed for one week only
This week, IDW has no releases in stores. The freighter with our books coming over for release this week got held up in customs, which happens every once in a great while. So this week's titles are being held over for next week, which means a lot of books next Wednesday...
So let's press on with a new image instead of the usual Monday list of new releases. The cover below is from our upcoming TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED miniseries. This one's from issue 2, and the art was done by one of the show's designers, Irineo Maramba.
Also, I woke up this morning to news that the great George Carlin died yesterday, which was quite a shock and more than a little depressing. Who's going to be here to point out all our ridiculous foibles now?
I met and got to spend some time with George on the set of Kevin Smith's film, JERSEY GIRL a few years back. I detailed the whole experience in a few column's at Kevin's old site (a couple of which were wrecked by a hacker), but didn't really talk much about George at the time. For all his on-stage bluster, he seemed a pretty private person, but was very interesting to talk (mostly listen) to, and very sober-minded about the way he approached his work and the world. And he was just great in the movie, too. Then again, when wasn't he?

Do, uh, you perhaps mean Irineo Maramba, Mr. Ryall?

"Maramba Myrberg" does not yield any Animated credit results on google...

Bumblebee is missing his stripe. might want to fix that.
Hey Mr. Ryall,
A little discussion has surfaced with the release of SL: Cyclonus and the absence of a sub-number. One poster quoted you saying that Revelations would pick up from the Dev sub-numbering, and there would be 8 more issues after that before the events of AHM. So now there are two theories.
1. The poster that quoted you thinks the absence of a sub-number on Cylonus was an error.
2. My theory was that perhaps after making that statement you guys decided to change the plan slightly and not sub-number the Revelation Spotlights because SL's have never been given any kind of number before which would then still leave 12 issues between Dev and AHM. Then you guys could fit more storytelling in that way. :)
3. And I'll add a third of none of the above.
Are one of close or are both of these thoughts totally off base?
Thanks.

I'm sure they just left the sub-numbering off on accident. But it was all starting to get a bit tough to make sense of, with the leap forward in time on AHM.
I have three itty-bitty TF-related questions that are not plot-related.
1. What do you think of the idea of reprinting Dreamwave’s “Ain’t No Rat”, TCC Magazine's “The Razor’s Edge”, and FP’s Botcon comic “Dawn of Future’s Past” all together in a BW anthology-style TP similar to “Balancing Act”?
2. Besides Jetfire, what are the chances of seeing some of the other “Classics” character designs in an upcoming IDWverse comic?
3. Is there a chance that we’ll ever get to see more never-before-seen concept art that Don, Nick, Guido, and Alex have done, like a sketchbook of some sort?

Ehhh. I'd say the chances are "ehhh" right now. It's possible, I suppose, but not too likely any time soon.

This is more likely, definitely.

I think we've shown everything they've sent us (with the exception of some of Guido's All Hail Megatron artwork, being held under wraps right now for good reason). But I'd certainly be up for releasing more of it. I can't get enough of their sketchwork and designs.
"Ain't No Rat" was reprinted in the Best of Don Figueroa book. But that's not really a "comic book" price for it. Great book, though.
Chris, I kind of noticed that some of the other spotlights didn't have the numbers either. Don't they all fit in at different times anyway? Keep up the good work.
