The reason we vote on Tuesdays is because in the early days it used to take a full day for some people to be able to get to town. Since Sunday is a day of rest they would leave on Monday and get to town and vote on Tuesday... and the tradition of Tuesday voting stuck. Or at least thats the story I was always given back in grade school. :)

Oh, I did. I was up at 4 a.m. got to my polling location at 5 a.m. and had voted by 6:30 a.m.
I'm really glad I got there early. My father-in-law went right at 6 a.m. and by that time the line was over 2 blocks long and it took him 4 hours.
I don't understand why you vote on a Tuesday (mind you, it sounds like "Choose Day" when Aussies say it).
It's a work day.
Far mroe sane for it to be a Saturday like it is here (mind you, it's still a work day for many people).
yeah tuesday seems weird. but the New York Times is calling. Obama is in! Congrats to him!
