Before this Labor Day weekend, some amazing labor from John Byrne and colorist Leonard O'Grady (somehow finding time, while also completing two 28-page PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL comics in record time). From the forthcoming STAR TREK ROMULANS: THE HOLLOW CROWN #1.

More Lockes, more Keys

Yesterday, we got the first advance copies of the new LOCKE & KEY hardcover, and it came out beautifully (witness the book as showcased by my robot spokesmodel):



The book hits stores on October 1, and it has me excited all over again for the coming next chapter in the series. LOCKE & KEY: HEAD GAMES, the next follow-up, debuts in January '09, and while it's a bit too soon to reveal any details on this one, I wanted to share the pencils for a 2-page spread in the first issue. Art by the inimitable Gabriel Rodriguez once again. Gabe said this is maybe the most challenging piece he's ever been asked to draw, and I think it's pretty obvious that's true. And also pretty obvious that he was up for the challenge.

Zero hour

As we finalize October's G.I. JOE #0, which now includes some additional things and announces additional plans that we've yet to talk about yet, it seems a good time to show one of the covers for the issue, courtesy of one of the series' artists, Robert Atkins.

That's right, I said "one of the series." Big Joe announcement coming soon.

I love the Reign-y nights

First I reference Run DMC and now Eddie Rabbitt? Let's see if I can keep this "obscure and very dated songs" theme going all week...

Star Trek: Days of Future Past

In November, we're kicking off an all-new STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION series. This one is set in the Myriad Universe, Pocket Books' new line of "what-if?" tales. The comic is called STAR TREK TNG: THE LAST GENERATION. Details will be forthcoming, but for now, here's J.K. Woodward's variant cover for the issue, and his inspiration for the image. Full art and colors by JK.

After the bachelorhood Fall

In honor of artist Stephen Mooney's rapidly approaching nuptials, here's a page from ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL #13 (colors by Art Lyon) -- Mooney is handling art chores on issues 12 and 13 -- as well as the great wedding invite he put together, too. I'll definitely be raising a pint in the happy couple's honor.
