I posted some artwork and a trailer for Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's new series, LOCKE & KEY, earlier. The advance reviews for the book have been great, too, and the first issue finally hit stores yesterday (I say "finally" because I've been loving this book for a long time and anxious for everyone else to get to see it)... and it promptly sold out through Diamond. That was a bit unexpected, as we considerably overprinted the first issue. So that's a great sign, and we're back to press now on a 2nd printing. The 2nd printing will be in stores on April 2 (the same day I officially turn a year older, too. Big day!) But if your shop still has any copies of the 1st printing, I recommend you grab it and give it a look because, well, because it's dammed good. And in honor of the sell-out, how about a very advance look at the covers to issues 4 and 5 here. Both by Gabriel, although for issue 4, he's channeling one of the kids in the comic and drawing as him. Sort of like the opposite of when Bil Keane used to draw FAMILY CIRCUS as "Billy," his kid. Then again, I've just very quickly gotten off-topic, although the FAMILY CIRCUS does scare me almost as much as Sam in LOCKE & KEY...

Shit, I was hoping to get that issue. I had no idea it came out yesterday.
You should be able to find it. It's sold out through the distributor right now, which means comics shops can't get more at the moment, but they likely haven't all sold every copy they ordered. Or you can get it through the IDW store at our site, too.
I was wondering something similar about Angel: After the Fall. Why aren't there annoucements for release dates, or like a little extra line for a specific date in the solicitations? A lot of people were really confused about when Angel #4 came out. Is it a printing issue or something, that the dates aren't announced earlier?
The release dates are never known when the comics are solicited months earlier. The final in-store date isn't finalized until a few weeks before it comes out. We always post the dates at our site and at our message board as soon as we have them.
Ahhh okay. I should've checked the General Board for "Lock & Key," then. I hope my LCS didn't sell out yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if I did. A lot of people are anticipating it, and I saw an article about it in the little gazette they hand out to the regular customers, so the avertising has been good. I'd go today, but my town became a Winter Wonderland overnight :/
Argh! Ok, I'm sold! I gotta get this book. Sadly the only IDW stuff I get in Korea (US citizen working overseas) is very limited - luckily I get Transformers stuff at my local PX. ;-)
I miss having a nice local comic shop to browse the books in advance though. ;(
