Trans-five-mers

Might as well keep the Transformers posts going this week, since I've shown some WRECKERS and DRIFT art already. This time around, Don Figueroa's b&w cover art for issue 5, coming at the end of the month, and James Brown's colored version above. And below, a couple interior pages from Don and James, too.

Attacking a Stunticon... while DRIVING THE VERY STUNTICON THAT THEY'RE ATTEMPTING TO RETRIEVE?!?!?!?!?

Good god, Spike is dumber than I thought.

(In all seriousness, though it's not like he could have known any better, it's still a dumb move on his part)

Haha, I think it's rather Ironic, and man Breakdown is gonna want some payback!!!

Thanks for the art dump Chris! Love it!!!

I hope the story starts going somewhere...

As much as I enjoy Last Stand of the Wreckers (it's starting to look like that might be my most favourite IDW Transformers comic to date), I've been disappointed by the quality of the ongoing. The writing is terribly decompressed and misses quite a few character beats (Hot Rod, Prowl...).

And while Don is a fine artist, I don't like his current movie/G1 hybrid designs at all. I'm hoping things will change soon for the ongoing, sorry...

Wreckers is to me what the ongoing should have been (although sales figures would indicate otherwise, I guess). And I'm glad Casey Coller will be back soon in the Ironhide series. Now if only Simon Furman could return to the G1universe sometimes...

I like Spike being all grizzled and unshaven! Hope he keeps that look. Adds character.

Sigh. Those hideous, beady movieverse eyes make me so very sad.

Skidplates - I think given that the cover for issue #6 shows Menasor (including Breakdown) I think Spike's in a bit of trouble, so you may need to add "squished" to that description ;)

I'd guess that being inside the Stunticon that the other Stunticons are trying to retrieve is probably the safest place on the battlefield - not like he's going to get shot at much. Unless issue 6 features a face-off between Ultra Magnus and a hopping Menasor.

It's been about 20 years since I've seen some decent Stunticon action in a Transformers comic!
