Our tertiary connection to the Mouse

In light of this morning's big news about Disney's deal to acquire Marvel Entertainment, I thought I'd post one more Dave Stevens ROCKETEER image. The link here, for those who don't know, is that Disney released the ROCKETEER movie back in 1991, whereas we're a little under two months out from releasing the ultimate collection of Steven's ROCKETEER comics works.

as I was afraid since Marvel started producing their own movies, I think this means only one thing: Marvel's main business is movies now, not comics. Maybe they have grown too big, and probably all their comics production will be nothing compared to the impact of a hit or a flop of one or two millionaire budget movies...

I hope I'm wrong, but this can't be good news for mainstream comics...

THANK GOD we have IDW!!!

Marvel's business has been anything BUT publishing comics for a great many years now...same with WB-owned DC Comics. And they will keep making comics as long as comics let them keep their franchises alive. Business as usual!

Personally, i couldn't care less about them and their pantyhose-clad burlymen :D lol!

Awesome Dave Stevens drawing!!

Not to be picky, but the movie didn't come out in the 80's, it came out in 1991 ;)
